CFP: Computational Methods in Economics, Finance and Statistics (fwd)

Computational Methods in Economics, Finance and Statistics

A specific session is being organized in the framework of the Second
Conference on Numerical Analysis and Applications, June 11-15, 2000,
University of Rousse, Bulgaria, see the attached call for papers.

The session will cover topics on computational methods in economics,
finance and statistics. Papers are solicited that deal significantly
with computational aspects of such subjects.

Abstracts no longer than 2 pages (about 6500 characters) are to be
submitted by January 15, 2000 either in hard copy or electronic form
(ASCII or standard LaTeX) to

SECOND CONFERENCE ON NUMERICAL ANALYSIS AND APPLICATIONS
                           June 11-15, 2000
                University of Rousse, Rousse, Bulgaria

This conference is second in a series. The first one (organized
in-cooperation with SIAM) was held in June 24-28, 1996 at the
University of Rousse. There were more than 80 participants from 22
countries all over the world. In addition to more than 30 participants
from Bulgaria, about 20 participants were from Eastern European
countries. In this way the meeting turned out to be a good place for
exchange of ideas between East and West. The refereed proceedings of
the first meeting were published by Springer Verlag in the Lecture
Notes in Computer Science series (vol. 1196).

We intend to make these meetings a recurring event meshing with other
conferences organized in Bulgaria. Since the early 1980th the largest
group of Bulgarian numerical analysts, located in Sofia, organizes a
series of conferences taking place every four years. The last two took
place in 1994 and 1998.

In the last several years a second group of scientists working in
Numerical Analysis was formed at the University of Rousse and the
conference in 1996 was a result of this growth. Our plans are to
organize a meeting every four years as well, so that every 2 years
there will be a major numerical analysis conference in Bulgaria.

Finally, every two years a conference organized as a collaborative
effort between the two research groups, devoted to "Large-scale
Scientific Computations," takes place on the Black Sea coast.

The main tracks of the conference are:

    1. Numerical Linear Algebra.
    2. Numerical Methods for Differential Equations.
    3. Numerical Modeling.
    4. High Performance Scientific Computing.
