Ummu Salma Bava, Professor of European Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India, will focus on consequences for the role of the national state in Europe, of the crises of the past years. The European Union, once seen as a successful process, appears to be weak, with a lack of supranational power to align economies and welfare arrangements. Will Europe speed up its economic integration, inevitably implying the handing over of more decision-making to Brussels?
