Conference venue

The conference was hosted by the Vrije Universiteit (VU) – Free University, in English. The VU was established in 1880 by orthodox Protestants. The word ‘free’ refers to freedom from state and church interference. At present, the university comprises 12 faculties, among which the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. The Department of Spatial Economics, in turn, is one of the Faculty’s 8 departments. It has around 60 members of staff, and has a strong international research focus in the fields of regional economics, transport economics, environmental economics, and geographical information systems.
