Prof.dr. Goos Minderman, extraordinary professor at the Zijlstra Center, has been nominated extraordinary professor at the School for Public Leadership of the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.
Piet Rietveld (Spatial Economics) has won the EIB-ERSA Prize. The European Investment Bank (EIB)- European Prize in Regional Science was created to recognize the outstanding contribution of scholars to the advancement in regional science and in related spatial area studies. The EIB-European Prize in Regional Science is awarded on the recommendation of an independent jury of six eminent regional scientists, four from Europe, one from the Americas and one from the rest of the world. The awarding ceremony will take place in August 2011 at the ERSA annual Congress in Barcelona.
Jan Willem Gunning (Development Economics) has been elected secretary of the KNAW. He was already a member of the KNAW.
Piet Rietveld (Spatial Economics) has been elected new member of the KNAW. Members are elected for their scientific performance. They are nominated for life.
Mirella Kleijnen (Marketing) has won the Best Lecturer Award 2011. Every year the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration rewards one of their lecturers with the Best Lecturer Award.
Dr. Kleijnen is primarily praised for her didactic qualities. She teaches with enthusiasm, is able to share her knowledge, and has the ability to grab and hold the attention of the audience. Her lectures are always interesting and entertaining to follow. Moreover, she also presents the most recent findings in the field of marketing and often invites interesting guest speakers who show how marketing is practised outside university.
Machiel Reinders (Marketing) has won the PIM Marketing Science Award With Prof. Dr. Ruud Frambach as his supervisor, Machiel Reinders wrote his dissertation on the topic of ‘Managing consumer Resistance to Innovations’. The award is granted by PIM (Platform Innovation in Marketing) and is supported by Accenture.
Paul Koster (Spatial Economics) has won the Hamburg Prize in Aviation Economics and Management He is the winner of the Senior Prize of the Young Researchers Paper Competition of the Hamburg Aviation Conference. This concerns a competition for young researchers in the field of aviation economics and management.
Hille Bruns (Management and Organization) has been awarded the Fellowship in Technology, Innovation and Society' of the Harvard Medical School. She will spend two weeks at the Harvard Medical School in doing research.
