Part of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of VU University Amsterdam
The VU Graduate School of Economics and Business is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of VU University Amsterdam. This is a medium-sized faculty, with 5,400 students and 460 members of staff. The Graduate School itself offers eight Master's degree programmes and has approximately 1,900 students.

Leading publishing economists in the Netherlands work at the Graduate School
The faculty combines the advantages of being small enough to offer good student-staff contact and yet large enough to attract talented academic staff to teach a wide range of excellent programmes. Building upon the faculty's sixty years of experience in education and research, many of its staff enjoy international academic renown. No fewer than 25 per cent of the leading publishing economists in the Netherlands work at the Graduate School, which itself ranks second on the list of the country's publishing institutions in economics.

The school offers programmes in the vanguard of economic research, with excellent tuition informed by the latest insights. As well as their teaching and research activities, many of our staff are actively engaged in professional work for the many financial and business institutions located in Amsterdam's nearby business district.

Intensive and challenging training from senior members of staff
Tuition and supervision at the school are small-scale, interactive and personal. Students receive intensive and challenging training from senior members of staff who are themselves active researchers. Our courses all have a strongly international orientation. They focus upon global developments, track worldwide trends, cover internationally recognized theories and equip students with knowledge and skills they can use anywhere. All the full-time programmes are taught in English and welcome an increasing number of foreign students, who add to a lively, vibrant international academic community.

The school's eight Master's degree programmes all open up excellent career prospects. They have recently been accredited by the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), whilst the MPhil has also been officially recognized by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). Many of our graduates have gone on to secure senior positions in public administration, business, politics or research.
