Master scholarships for Taiwanese Talent

VU Graduate School of Economics and Business is offering Taiwanese candidates the unique opportunity to win a scholarship to cover the tuition fee and more for taking part in one of our highly renowned Master's programmes.

Two scholarships will be awarded for this programme in the academic year 2012/2013. The Scholarship will be open to high potential candidates from Taiwan who are interested in pursuing a world class graduate education in the fields of Marketing, Business Administration, (Quantitatitive) Finance, Econometrics and Operations Research, Economics, Spatial and Environmental Economics and Accounting and Control. Two scholarships valued at €15,000 each are offered for outstanding candidates of only Taiwanese nationality. The winner is responsible for all other expenses incurred during his/her study at VU University Amsterdam (e.g. housing, course materials and living expenses). VU Graduate School of Economics will support the successful candidates for 1 year of studies.

Criteria of Eligibility

  • Only applicants with at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited Taiwanese university
  • Candidates must be citizens of Taiwan and be normally resident in Taiwan.
  • The main criteria for selection are excellence, motivation and extracurricular activities
  • Be fluent in English and have a more than satisfactory score in an English proficiency test such as IELTS or TOEFL. This requirement is often underestimated. Do train the English language during the preparation year!
  • Admission to one of the Master's programmes of VU Graduate School of Economics and Business. For the general requirements and application procedure to VU University Amsterdam see Practical information
  • Do not obtain any funding/scholarship from other organizations/institutes
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (or GPA) of at least 80

First step is applying for the VUFP scholarship at vufp.dsz@vu.nl / www.vu.nl/vufellowship(deadline March 1st)

Please send in the following documents:

  1. Proof that you belong to the top 10% of your class (issued by your university) or university statement concerning your GPA (Grade Point Average)
  2. A motivation letter; why you should be granted a scholarship, including your career perspective
  3. Financial Plan listing your budget (other scholarships etcetera).

VU University Amsterdam: required documents for admission (please check: www.vuamsterdam.com/admission). Deadline for application: 1 March 2012 if you apply for the scholarship as well.
