Travel to Amsterdam

 

An important asset of Amsterdam for international travellers is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It is served by as many as 80 airlines, providing direct flights to/from hundreds of destinations worldwide, including dozens of daily flights to major cities in Europe and North America. Amsterdam is also served by a number of low-cost carriers from regional airports throughout Europe as well as by chartered flights. All flights are handled via one terminal which also holds the railway station.

 

Passports and Visas

A valid passport is generally required for entry into The Netherlands. Being one of the Schengen countries (together with Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden) The Netherlands follows the common visa policy on short-term stays of up to three (3) months within the Schengen area. The citizens of Schengen countries are not subjected to border controls within the common area, though airlines or other carriers do require an identification document (e.g. ID or passport).

Insurance

The registration fees do not include the insurance of participants against accidents, sickness, cancellation, theft, property loss or damage. Participants are advised to take out adequate personal travel insurance.
